There are times in the middle of a game or practice when your mental training is not working. You work hard on trying to be in the moment, not dwell on prior goals or games, to believe in your ability and have that unshakeable confidence. We are all human and no one is perfect. There will be times when you doubt yourself, when you think you have no chance at stopping that penalty shot. Not only is it disgusting, but it speeds up the breakdown of the equipment as well as open you up to potentially dangerous infections and diseases. Weak Side vs. Strong Side

If you skate out occasionally the terms Weak Side and Strong Side refer to what side of the ice the puck is on. If you split the rink down the middle at the red line, whichever side of the red line the puck is on, that is the Strong Side and the other side of the red line is the Weak Side. When it comes to goaltending there is also a weak side and a strong side. It is not to confusing until you throw into the mix those southpaw or full-right goalies (such as myself). Read more…
