Pre-Game Routine

Having a set routine before each game you play can help you focus more and get into the zone easier. By not having a routine most of your mental energy will be spent thinking over what to do before the game, rushing and forgetting things. Goalies Are Always In Demand

I decided to play on two teams for the second season in a row this year and so far it has turned out nicely. One team is in the “B” level and the other in “C”. So I get a nice mix of the talent I face each night and each level allows me to work on different aspects of my game. Yesterday I was relaxing with my family before my back to back games when my phone rang. It was the rink asking if I can come in early to sub-in for the first game of the night. Read more…

Slide in Roller Hockey With Slippery Tape

The biggest difference between an ice hockey goaltender and a roller hockey one has to do with physics. There is less surface tension and friction on ice, so an ice hockey goalie can easily slide from side to side in their crease. In roller hockey if a goalie attempts the same slide, their pads will stick to the playing surface and go nowhere. There are several modifications you can make on your leg pads to be able to create a decent amount of slide. You can install plastic slide plates, use velcro, get leg pads with plates pre-installed, or use slippery tape. Read more…

Not only is it disgusting, but it speeds up the breakdown of the equipment as well as open you up to potentially dangerous infections and diseases. First Season of 2012 Recap

The league I play in has a 9 game schedule with guaranteed playoffs. For some reason the last game of the season does not count towards your record for the playoffs, so there is very little room for error when 8 games determine your fate. Our team has been working very well together and we were pretty confident going into this season. We figured out what our best line combinations are and even improved our pre-game warmup routine. We even made sure those who didn’t have one, got a team jersey. I think the last time I had a team jersey was well over 10 years ago. There is just something about having matching jersey’s with your name and number on the back. Read more…
